Singletons & Co takes pride in being firmly rooted in our local community. We are still located less than five miles from where the Singleton family started farming almost three hundred years ago. This part of Lancashire is home to our dairy, our farmers, our staff and many of our loyal customers. It seems only right that we should also support local charities. We currently make contributions from sales of our Heritage range to the following charities:
Country Trust

For over forty years, the Country Trust has been quietly transforming lives. They work with farmers and supporters to bring food, farming and the countryside alive for around 20,000 children each year: children from disadvantaged areas, children with special educational needs and disabilities and children facing other challenges that limit their opportunities, including refugees and young carers. They do this through three key programmes: Farm Discovery day visits to real working farms and estates, Countryside Discovery residentials and Food Discovery programmes.

The Country Trust help to address poverty of opportunity, bringing rich experiences – vital for building language, literacy, self-confidence and self-esteem – to children’s lives. The countryside, and especially farms, are amazing places to learn and grow.

The team work closely with Lancashire Constabulary and the Ambulance Service, responding to more than 70 incidents in 2018. Using a combination of technical equipment, search dogs and local knowledge, the dedicated and experienced volunteers of our MRT work hard, year-round to keep the community safe.

Our association with the Bowland Pennine MRT goes back many years. We are proud to continue our support.

CHAOS’ purpose is to arrange outings and social gatherings for the benefit of all people aged 60 and over in the sparsely populated rural area centred on the village of Chipping, in the Forest of Bowland. Public transport is extremely limited and it is easy for the elderly to feel isolated and lonely. Whether it be regular trips to local supermarkets, cultural outings or parties, CHAOS endeavours to support the older members of our local community.

Duillia Singleton – the eponymous “Grandma Singleton” – farmed at Crombleholme Fold Farm, a very short distance from Chipping. It seemed apt that CHAOS is supported by sales of the cheese that bears her name.

Lancashire Wildlife Trust

The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside is part of the Wildlife Trusts movement, the UK’s leading conservation charity dedicated to all wildlife. The Wildlife Trust are your local charity, working hard to improve your local area for wildlife and for you.

Never before have we seen our natural world in such crisis. The Wildlife Trust are working to put nature into recovery and create a society with nature at the heart of it. They look after over 45 wildlife havens across our region, working to protect special areas from development and to save key species at risk of extinction in our area. They inspire people of all ages, from toddlers to the retired, about our natural world and how to care for and enjoy it.

Together we can make a difference to our local wildlife, one small act at a time.
